10 Minute Presentation on My Essay
I worked on my final presentation of the year a lot to try and get to the 10 minutes. I practiced it many times at home to make sure I had enough content. I wrote a script that went with my slides to make sure I knew exactly what I had to say on each side. I think that it should have been in note form so I didn't have to refer to it as much as I did. So I'll work on this for next time. I tried to keep the style of the slides to the simplicity feel you get from the Apple brand, which I think works well but it's not really me. It doesn't have enough colour in it, for me to really love it. So I would change this as well if I had to present it again.
Essay-Corporate Branding and Design elements
Corporate Brands
-Apple
I think the Apple identity will provide me with a good focus for my essay because I think that the brand relates to me as I am always around an Apple product because I am studying graphic design and I have wide knowledge on this area already.
What I need to write about in my essay.
-How the design elements communicate the Apple brand in:
-their products
-advertising
-Packaging
-Also look at the history of their logo to create a background for the readers.
-Sum my ideas up.

How does a contemporary graphic designer communicate their ideas to a given target audience? - Essay
What is a Contemporary Graphic Designer?
-Someone who is up to date with modern times but can create something that is original and hasn't been seen before.
-Someone who can include social-economic culture in his/her work e.g. Eco(Green)
-Someone who can use the latest computer and design technology.
-Someone who uses modern/colloquial language in there design to relate to the modern times.
Idea Communication?
-Research
Thorough research and particularly primary research can help generate the design message and help it become more effective in the long run.
-Design Elements/Principles
Design elements such as balance, contrast and emphasis etc. are very important when it come to communicating a message. The elements tend to help the fluidity of the design, so the intended message can be understood correctly.
-Technology
Technology can now be used with design to create many different contemporary styles. These designs can also be socially viewed with the help of technology. The internet can provide many ways to direct people to a designers work such as community sites like facebook, blogs or just general google searches.
-Emotion or Expressions
Design can be used to show many emotions and feelings with the use of colour or line for example. A blue would show a calm or a cool design and a sharp jagged line would show excitement or nervousness.
-Individual Mark
An individual mark is similar to a signature. It is a particular word or image that specifies the design to the designer. Therefore communicating the message of who created the pice of work.
-Humour
Humour in a design is very important . It can show a sense of personality in a design and relates more to the viewer getting them engaged.

Research Presentation
This was our final group presentation. We had to do it on anything to do with research. We chose to do research methods and how we research as designers. I think this was our most visually pleasing presentation because it is a very simple layout and is easy for viewers to read clearly. I designed the slides and provided some of the data from books I have at home.
Magazine Analysis
Our third group presentation was on Magazine Analysis. I was my idea to look into design magazine because I read them myself and they also relate to our subject area. I think we gave this presentation the most thought so far. We all created the initial mind map and also worked out what was going on what slide pretty quickly. I didn't create the slides this time but I did provide the first hand knowledge for the slides from my personal interest in these magazines.
Product Analysis
Our second presentation was on analysis of a brand
identity. We chose Coca Cola. Again we concentrated
on what their products tells us. We tried to imagine
that if we didn't know what Cola was what would
the designs tell us. I think this was the strongest
part of this presentation, however I think we should
of added a lot more about the history of the company.
I created the slides and came up with the initial mind
map.
How We Communicate
This was my first of my group presentations. We
started off with producing a mind map as a group
and decided on who was going to do what job.
I came up with the basic concept of the presentation
which was 'using the design elements to communicate'
I also designed the slides for this presentation.
